MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2005 May 21 Observer(s): Bonfield, Schawinski Institution(s): Oxford Instrument: TIFKAM/RETROCAM Worked for 9 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.3 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1.7 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Initially quite breezy, but fortunately dust never seemed to get up to the observatory, and by the end of the night it was calm. Seeing was quite poor, although this may in part have been due to difficulties maintaining focus as the telescope cooled rapidly from a high initial temperature (~30 C) in the first half of the night, such that the standard formula for tracking the focus did not work. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2005 May 22 [4:56:10]
