MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2005 Nov 19 Observer(s): S. Lepine Institution(s): AMNH Instrument: Direct + Echelle Worked for 12 hours (all night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.7 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate Mid: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate End: Seeing 2..0 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Clear skies, but conditions a bit windy, so the seeing was not so good. Wind was gusty before midnight, and I closed the garage door to reduce telescope wobbly motion. Twice during the night, the temperature dropped abruptly and the seeing degraded as the primary mirror became warmer than ambient. I tried closing the mirror covers 15-20 minutes to cool the mirror, and it did appear to improve the seeing aftewards, which was then good enough for parallax measurements. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2005 Nov 20 [7:05:05]
