MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2005 Sep 14 Observer(s): John Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: echelle CCD direct + 2in FW Worked for 11 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: A very fine night again, perfectly clear all night under the bright moon. Seeing was always decent and occasionally very good, but appeared to fluctuate more than usual. Winds were light, and at times completely calm, which is almost eerie -- the calm intervals appeared to correlate with the best seeing. Continued work on parallax program and various other odds and ends. Equipment behaved well. I may have mentioned, I've developed a script which recognizes the star field from a catalog and allows one to quickly and accurately center up on objects. Since my visits to each target are fairly short, this significantly reduces overhead. The script has been installed on the new Hill and Agung machines. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2005 Sep 15 [6:16:41]
