MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2006 Mar 10 Observer(s): Sheets Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: echelle - direct Worked for 2 hours (first half of the night) Conditions were Overcast most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Clouds all night. Beg: Seeing 1+ arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Moderate Mid: Fog/Low Clouds, Winds High, some sleet or rain End: Fog/Low Clouds, Winds High, sleet or rain Observing Summary: after finally arriving on the mountain at 4pm today, 15 hour after planned, it was cloudy. at sunset, though, it magically cleared for a couple hours. all i got were a few possibly usable flats, because i wasn't expecting to be observing and hadn't had time to get everything set up. while i was fighting with setting up, the clouds rolled back in, so i never got any science observations, just the flats. ah well. i worked out some of the first night bugs at least. went to bed around midnight, woke up periodically throughout the early morning to the sound of the wind lashing some form of precip against the building. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2006 Mar 11 [6:55:29]
