MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2006 Mar 15 Observer(s): John Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: Echelle CCD with 2in FW Worked for 12 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 0.8 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Excellent night, with good to excellent seeing throughout and photometric until just before dawn (the moon was so bright that any cirrus would have been easily visible). Still on generator. The lights all started pulsing at about 2 Hz around 12:50 AM and stayed that way for the better part of an hour, but this seems to have cured itself. Gave me a fright, though, I thought it was probably about to conk out, and on such a good night! Indications are power will be fixed sometime today -- the lines were really trashed by the storm and they're having to replace some poles by hand, which takes quite a while. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2006 Mar 16 [6:47:09]
