MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2006 May 25

Worked for 9.5 hours (all night)
Conditions were Photometric most of the night.
Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details.

Seeing and Weather:
   Beg: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm
   Mid: Seeing 0.75 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm
   End: Seeing 1.0 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm

Observing Summary:

Clear night with calm winds, obtained observations of four targets
as planned but loss ~1.5 hours due to three instances
of RA/Dec encoder not responding.   The first two times I 
corrected it by waiting for the encoders to respond (that is, 
for the tcs to stop saying they were not responding), then moved
to zenith to reestablish pointing and then continued with 
program.  The last instance occured during a slew to get into
position for morning twilight flats.  The tcs reported DEC
encoder not responding and the telescope was oscillating in RA
by ~10 seconds of time every 5 seconds or so.  I just stopped 
the slew on the xtcs and proceeded to take skyflats.
