MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2006 Nov 03 Observer(s): L. Watson Institution(s): OSU Instrument: CCDS and Retrocam Worked for 10 hours (most of the night) Conditions were Overcast most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Clouds all night. Beg: Seeing 0.8 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 0.8 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm End: Seeing 0.7 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm Observing Summary: There were pretty thick cirrus clouds up until about 12:30am, but during that time I went ahead and observed one of C. Kochanek's lenses, one SDSS supernova, a flaring star upon request from J. Patterson and N. Mirabal. After the weather cleared a bit, I observed four more lenses and multiple supernova for the Carnegie Supernova Program. The clouds stuck around all night although zenith cleared pretty well in the early hours of the morning. I discovered that cirrus seem to help your seeing as long as you can make out your object! Also, there is a *very* loud and **very** high pitched noise that surges through the control room (and possibly the dome) during what I can only make out to be random times during the night. I couldn't take my fingers out of my ears long enough to locate where it's coming from. If anyone has any ideas, pleas let me know. My ears hurt! ------------------------------ Submitted on 2006 Nov 4 [6:57:44]
