MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2006 Nov 07 Observer(s): L. Watson Institution(s): OSU Instrument: CCDS and Retrocam Worked for 12 hours (all night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.3 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: I haven't remembered to mention it, but the CCDS readout pattern that had disappeared for a time has been present since I started my run. I'll just mention again what has been said before. The effect is quite dramatically bad when observing a faint supernova. The readout pattern can erroneously be interpreted as supernova spectral features. And the time variation makes it difficult to remove during reduction. I observed five SDSS supernovae, the CV we've been following, two supernova from the Carnegie Supernova Program, three of C. Kochanek's lenses, and SN2006jc. The clouds were better in than they have been in the last few nights, just sticking around the horizon. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2006 Nov 8 [6:56:17]
