MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2006 Oct 28 Observer(s): R.J. Assef, K. Schlesinger Institution(s): OSU Instrument: CCDS, RETROCAM Worked for 9.5 hours (most of the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Clouds from 3:00 until end. Beg: Seeing 1 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.4 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm End: Overcast, Winds Calm Observing Summary: At the beginning of the night, there were some high clouds. Our seeing was pretty good, around 1 . Unfortunately, around 19:00, RETROCAM crashed after we needed to abort something. It brought down Hiltner with it. With help from Jen Marshall (thank goodness for gmail chat!), we were able to reboot Hiltner and get CCDS and RETROCAM in working order. The seeing got progressively worse as the night went on. Clouds were moving in. By 3:30, we could no longer find guide stars, etc. Thick clouds were obscuring everything. We stayed open until 5:30 in case anything changed. Unfortunately the clouds persisted! ------------------------------ Submitted on 2006 Oct 29 [5:41:09]
