MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2007 Apr 06 Observer(s): Birgit Otte, Jun Ji Institution(s): University of Michigan Instrument: Templeton Worked for 7-8 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: High Winds all night. Beg: Clear, Winds High Mid: Clear, Winds High End: Clear, Winds Moderate Observing Summary: The sky was clear all night except the strong winds, but the winds should not a big problem for such a clear night. The moon light was bright though after 12am, but it didn't affect our observations. We couldn't use take the dome flat, it seems that the projecters didn't work. So we use the sky flat after the sunset and also before the sunrise (some frames got saturated quickly befoe sunrise though.) We had a hard time to fix the pointing problem of the telescope, but luckily Karen helped us out. We didn't notice that the telescope was out of focus until the end of the first 2 hours, then we found the best focus. After the autoguider was in use, we then could observe our source with a lot more ease. This lasted for 4.5 hours till the twilight came up. During the observing, there were two interuptions due to readout failure. We didn't know the cause. The preset mirror temperature was 2 degree higher than the air temperature, we didn't know if this would be a big problem. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2007 Apr 7 [18:55:32]
