MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2007 Aug 25

Conditions were Mixed most of the night.
Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details.

Seeing and Weather:
   Clouds all night.

Observing Summary:

Last night (24 Aug local start), I did a lightning shutdown 
according to the instructions printed out in the control room.  
Then, today, after I followed the instructions again to 
revive the system from lightning shutdown, all went well until 
I tried to initialize the MIS through xmis.  The filter wheel 
kept spinning around and therefore xmis kept thinking that it 
wasn't done initializing.

I called Bob about it, and we tried to debug it over an xterm, 
but to no avail.  As he was headed up to fix it, he called from 
Three Points in a fairly large thunder/lightning storm, so 
he thought it best to scrap it for the night and come up in the 
morning instead.  I agreed, especially since the weather didn't 
look like it was improving.  Hopefully this'll be fixed by 
tomorrow.
