MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2007 Dec 27 Observer(s): Tobin and Ahu Institution(s): Michigan Instrument: TIFKAM Worked for 13 hours (all night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Clouds from 4:30 until 6:30. Beg: Seeing 0.85 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.3 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm Observing Summary: The start of the night was perfect, photometric and seeing of 0.9 until about midnight when seeing became ~1.2 and was that or worse for the rest of the night. We were able to partially observe 2 primary targets (as expected) and observe secondary targets. At about 2 am the lower right quadrand of the detector began producing a strange read pattern. We did not attempt any measures to correct the problem since we have no idea of the cause. The problem of the offset motion from prospero was determined to be caused by using the telescope hand paddle to line up the guide star. We stopped using the handpaddle and the problem did not reoccur. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2007 Dec 28 [6:19:04]
