MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2007 Jan 04 Observer(s): K. Schlesinger Institution(s): OSU Instrument: CCDCOM and RETROCAM Worked for 13 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.25 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Had the same difficulty pointing as I have had on all the other nights. I believe that the targets are SW of where the telescope is centered. Once the encoders are reset, the pointing was fine for the rest of the night. The dome also behaved well until the end of the night. It didn't home. It stayed at 190, rather than returning. Seeing ranged from around 1 to 2 . Bizarrely, RETROCAM was not happy focusing. Using CCDCOM, it was clear that the seeing was around 1 , but no matter how many times I focused RETROCAM, it never got better than 2 . I managed to observe 4 galaxies and 7 lenses. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2007 Jan 5 [7:36:22]
