MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2007 Jan 05 Observer(s): S. Lepine Institution(s): AMNH Instrument: MkIII + Wilbur Worked for 1 hours (first half of the night) Bad weather most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: High Humidity all night. Beg: Overcast, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing >3 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm End: Fog/Low Clouds, Winds Moderate Observing Summary: The night started with a stationary band of clouds continuously forming above Kitt Peak and the Coyotes, like a standing wave. The pattern dissipated around 11pm, and the humidity dropped to safe levels. I opened the dome and observed for about 1 hour (in very bad seeing) but then the dome relative humidity shot up again and I had to close. Followed more bands of clouds and periods of fog. Humidity levels dropped only at sunrise. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2007 Jan 6 [7:29:26]
