MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2007 Jan 28 Observer(s): John Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: echelle CCD direct + 2 in FW Worked for 8 hours (most of the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Clouds from 18:00 until 0:30. Beg: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1. arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 0.7 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Started out looking really grim, with heavy high cloud everywhere lit by the bright moon. Managed to get some poor data through some thinner spots, but it was almost useless so I mostly stayed closed. Then, after midnight, the clouds all went away (!) yielding photometric conditions with often deep sub-arcsec seeing (again! But not as steady as last night). A very strange turn of affairs, but most welcome, since I was able to catch up on many late-night parallax targets. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2007 Jan 29 [7:24:14]
