MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2007 Jan 29 Observer(s): John Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: Echelle CCD direct + 2 in FW Worked for 3 hours (off and on through the night) Bad weather most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Clouds from 21:00 until 4:00. Beg: Seeing 1 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Overcast, Winds Moderate End: Seeing 2 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Very unpromising in the afternoon, but cleared up briefly a little after sunset. Then socked in again after a while, and a heavy cloud bank passed through for the next 7 hours. Then it cleared again briefly, but never very clear, and clouded up again before twilight. The seeing was decent for the first part, but pretty terrible in the morning -- temperature had dropped, mirror was warm, and weather was passing through, many causes to choose from. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2007 Jan 30 [6:08:43]
