MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2007 Jun 12 Observer(s): McGreer Institution(s): Columbia Instrument: Echelle Worked for 8 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Excellent observing conditions. More observations of FIRST sources, nice images under these conditions. Also ran after a GRB that was setting just after sunset. At the very beginning of the night, the dome moved but did not track the telescope. An error message on the TCS said that Auto Dome was off, but it was on. I toggled the switch and it corrected itself. Just after midnight, TCS started reporting a host of errors and the telescope became totally unresponsive. I tried reinitializing TCS and using the hand paddle to no avail. After rebooting the (new) TCS computer the telescope got lost and went to its hard limits. I eventually recovered it and was able to continue without further problems. A lengthy (upon request) trouble report follows. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2007 Jun 13 [5:27:48]
