MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2007 Jun 28 Observer(s): John Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: Modspec + echelle CCD Worked for 9 hours (all night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Clouds from 2300 until 100. Beg: Seeing 1+ arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate Mid: Seeing 1 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Another good night, mostly clear except for some episodes of brightly moonlit altocumulus, apparently spat out by activity far to the east. Seeing was mostly pretty good but nothing too special. Dome returned about 1 foot from contacts at end, otherwise everything worked fine. The commercial power failed about 5:30 AM (after I'd closed). It went down, then surged 3-4 x for 1/2 second or so, then went down all the way. Generator came on line correctly. I thought to check the mirror A/C breaker -- sure enough, it had tripped, so I reset it. I could hear the dome exhaust fans groan as the A/C came on -- it must draw quite a bit of current! Please check the mirror A/C from time to time to be sure it's running today. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2007 Jun 29 [5:35:11]
