MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2007 Mar 27 Observer(s): chris peters Institution(s): dartmouth college Instrument: echelle + 2-in FW Worked for 1 hours (part of the night) Conditions were Overcast most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: High Winds from 7 PM until 2 AM. Beg: Cirrus, Winds High Mid: Overcast, Winds Moderate End: Patchy Clouds, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Boy, what a difference wind makes! Gusts up to 25-30 MPH with steady flows around 15 MPH made the seeing absolutely terrible. 10 pixels at its worst. Bad news for the intended astrometry. Also, clouds rolled in, complicating the situation even further. Closed up for a couple hours after the observer at the 1.3m noticed a blip of green on the radar. The best seeing was about 5.5 pixels at 4:45 AM local when the wind calmed down a bit. Managed to get a couple marginal (at best) shots of a LSPM parallax target. Let's hope for better tomorrow! ------------------------------ Submitted on 2007 Mar 28 [6:25:42]
