MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2007 Mar 28 Observer(s): chris peters Institution(s): dartmouth college Instrument: echelle + 2-in FW Worked for 8 hours (all night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable, fire Mid: Seeing 1.0 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable, fire End: Seeing 1.1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm, fire Observing Summary: After the mirror covers were uncovered, the night was great. Not quite as good as a few nights ago, but infinitely better than last night. 'Twas a decent night for astrometry; seen better, but also have seen much worse. Managed to get data for most of the top priority parallax targets, and therefore am ready for the instrument to be switched to spectroscopy. Oh, and lest we forget the 10-acre fire around mile marker 8-9. There was talk of an evacuation of the mountain, but nothing ever really happened. I have to assume that the fire poses little threat. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2007 Mar 29 [6:11:51]
