MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2007 Mar 31 Observer(s): chris peters Institution(s): dartmouth college Instrument: echelle + modspec Worked for 11 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Clear, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Clear, Winds Moderate End: Patchy Clouds, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Another night spent getting spectra of CVs for radial velocity timeseries. Great weather and the telescope worked like a dream. Now for the bad news... Beginning last night, the neon lamp was dying, evident from the comparison spectra. By the beginning of tonight, it was dead. This may make the wavelength calibration of the twilight spectra difficult (but won't affect the night spectra due to wavelength calibration by night-sky lines). However, the Xenon lamp may be sufficient to fill in the gap left by the missing Neon to get through these last 2 nights. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2007 Apr 1 [6:04:53]
