MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2007 May 08 Observer(s): Morgan, Shankar Institution(s): OSU Instrument: 8k Worked for 7.5 hours (most of the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Clouds from 8pm until 1am. Beg: Seeing 1.3 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.6 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: We shut down for lighning before evening twilight and powered up again around 7:30pm local. First half of the night was spent observing Leo A; second half of the night was spent observing the Bootes field AGN monitoring. We lost pointing during the target switch and had to re-init at the zenith, but this was due to misidentification of a bright star (not a mechanical problem). One weird thing was a loud humming noise coming from the dome during one of our exposures. It happened during only one exposure and stopped at the exact time the exposure ended and started reading out. It didn't repeat for the rest of the night, so we couldn't track down what it might have been. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2007 May 9 [5:19:49]
