MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2007 Oct 08 Observer(s): L. Watson Institution(s): OSU Instrument: CCDS and Retrocam Worked for 11 hours (all night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Before sunset, I ran into a problem with Retrocam. With Rick's very patient help and some tinkering, we figured out that the power strip that should have been giving Retrocam power was not completely plugged into its socket. Rick helped me fix this before sunset so no time was lost. I observed 8 SDSS supernova, B. Peterson's PG quasar, M. Dietrich's BL Lac object, and C. Kochanek's QSO. The skies were clear except for a little bit of haze/thin clouds on the horizon. They were there at sunset and sunrise so I guess they were there all night. But without the moon and only those thin clouds, I was able to observe pretty faint SN! Oh, is there a way to turn off the red lights on the east side of the building? I couldn't find the switch. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2007 Oct 9 [6:10:07]
