MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2007 Oct 11 Observer(s): Mangala Sharma and Tom Statler Institution(s): Ohio University Instrument: 8K CCD Worked for 12 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.0 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Observed galaxy groups and high-z clusters. Photometric night with pretty good transparency, reasonably good but slightly variable seeing. Telescope and instrument behaved well. Chip No. 3 (on the north-east of the mosaic) is still out of commission. 8K data sometimes show multiply-reflected ghost images ; bright stars not even in the direct field of view contribute reflections. One incidence of power fluctuation sometime around 3:30AM. Nothing happened to the instruments; only the music system in the control room shut off. Tried to use Thorstensen's gs8k_2cams program (which he generously upgraded for us despite his busy schedule). We hope to work with him some more to match up the program output to what we actually see on the guide cameras - both north and south. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2007 Oct 12 [6:34:11]
