MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2007 Oct 12 Observer(s): Mangala Sharma and Tom Statler Institution(s): Ohio University Instrument: 8K CCD camera Worked for 11 hours (all night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Fog from 6AM until dawn?. Beg: Seeing 1.3 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1.7 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate End: Seeing 1.6 arcsec, Fog/Low Clouds, Winds Light & Variable, Fog rolled in 6AM Observing Summary: When opening, we found the instrument dark hatch was already open, even though we'd closed it earlier in the morning. It probably slid open when the telescope mirrors were being cleaned in the afternoon. It would be nice to secure the dark hatch when it's closed. Conditions were non-photometric, and seeing varied from about 1.3 to 2 arcsec. Transparency was significantly reduced compared to last night. A most amazing sight was the morning fog rushing in - humidity was about 45% a little before 6AM, and then 80% around 6:10AM! We shut the mirror covers in a hurry when we went out to the telescope and noticed the suddenly grey skies. There was no other excitement either with the telescope or the camera, which behaved predictably all night long. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2007 Oct 13 [6:31:08]
