MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2007 Sep 11 Observer(s): Fesen and Milisavljevic Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: CCDS Worked for 7 hours (most of the night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Clouds from 8 until 10. Beg: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.3 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.2 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Cloudy skies at the beginning of the evening. We opened up at 10pm to partly cloudy skies. Weather became progressively better throughout the evening, as did the seeing which was around 1-1.5 arcseconds. Tilting the grating of the CCDS was inconsistent at times. We followed the manual and tried to approach desired wavelength from below, but found that the grating did not always tilt on command. In the end we found that extreme tilts between 5200 and 8759 Ang worked. Also, when inserting filter 5, extended characters and garbage appears in the Prospero Status window. The filter, however, does seem to work fine. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2007 Sep 12 [15:22:20]
