MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2008 Jun 22 Observer(s): J. Thorstensen, J. Skinner Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: Echelle CCD direct + 4 in FW Worked for 9 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 0.9 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Substantial cloud east of meridian at start, remnants of some serious cumulus during the day, but this dissipated quickly under the influence of a strong northwesterly flow. A very fine (if bright) night followed. There's more we could do with the direct camera, but we've done most of our highest priority objects and there are now big holes in the night where we don't have much to do. If it's possible to change to the spectrograph today, instead of Wednesday, that would be good, but if there isn't sufficient manpower on site we'll certainly make do. I figure that it's either today or Wed. given that there is an instrument change scheduled on the 1.3m tomorrow -- two in one day seems a bit risky. DTI guider, please, if we change to spectrograph. Good luck focusing the guide optics! We'll be working pretty far over at times so once they're in focus it would be good to move around the sky to be sure they stay put. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2008 Jun 23 [5:19:17]
