MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2008 Mar 06 Observer(s): Milisavljevic Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: CCDS Worked for 10.5 hours (all night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate Mid: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Moderate End: Seeing 1-2 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Moderate Observing Summary: A successful first night of observing. Moderate winds (~20 mph) and some cirrus clouds were minor irritations throughout the night. At the end of the evening the seeing was variable with several blossoms 3 arcsec and greater--right in time for standard stars! I stepped outside after closing and couldn't believe all of the junk I had been observing through. I did work with a handicap. The spectra were not centered on the chip properly, so I had to work from the outer edge of the slit. Not a major problem but it would be nice if this could be fixed before the weekend. Tony kindly tried to remove and replace the grating when I first noticed this in the afternoon, but the procedure only exacerbated the shift. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2008 Mar 7 [6:47:19]
