MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2008 May 08

Worked for 2.5 hours (first half of the night)
Conditions were Overcast most of the night.
No equipment or software problems were encountered.

Seeing and Weather:
   Clouds all night.
   Beg: Seeing 2 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Light & Variable
   Mid: Overcast, Winds Calm, Fire 8 mi south
   End: Overcast, Winds Light & Variable, Fire 8 mi south

Observing Summary:

Wanted to do photometry of near-Earth asteroids (with Retrocam),
rapidly followed by spectroscopy (with CCDS). 
Weather did not allow. A fire south of the mountain started
apparently around 1 am. Statler communicated with the 4m observer and
the WIYN operator, who was in touch with fire authorities. Closed
at 3 AM and went to bed, taking the cordless phone in case of
emergency.
