MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2008 Nov 23 Observer(s): L. Watson Institution(s): OSU Instrument: Echelle Worked for 12 hours (all night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Clouds all night. Beg: Seeing 1.4 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.4 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm Observing Summary: The night started off with only a few cirrus, but they got thicker soon after sunset. I think there was always at least a little bit of cirrus, with occasional patches of thicker clouds that stole my guide stars. I was still able to observe all night. I don't think it is too big of a problem, but maybe it's worth noting that liquid nitrogen poured out of the dewar for about a minute when I moved to an object with HA = -00h45m, DEC = -20d13' (airmass = 1.67). I checked the temperature of the instrument for the rest of the night and it seemed fine, so I don't think it dumped too much out. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2008 Nov 24 [6:52:38]
