MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2008 Oct 14 Observer(s): R. Mark Wagner Institution(s): OSU/LBTO Instrument: Modspec Worked for 10.5 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 3-4 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate Mid: Seeing 3 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate End: Seeing 1-2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Smooth night. No problems. We tried to adjust the TV camera X position to center the CCD sweet spot on the slit to the center of the camera instead of having the spot off the one edge. However after moving the camera 1000 units in X the slit began to seriously vignet without the star image getting anywhere close to the proper position. I left the configuration as before. Seeing was better tonight although it had its moments at times. It was typically 2-3 arcsec but as much as 6-8 arcsec at times early in the night. It did get better during the night. Transparency was excellent. No telescope or instrument problems of note. Guider worked fine. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2008 Oct 15 [6:49:18]
