MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2009 Apr 04 Observer(s): M. Kilic Institution(s): OSU/CfA Instrument: Direct Echelle Worked for 9 hours (all night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Clouds from 01:30 until 05:15. Beg: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.5-2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Seeing 2 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm Observing Summary: The night started as photometric with seeing around 1 . However, the ambient temperature fell below the primary mirror temperature in a few hours. The mirror cooling system has worked all day but it was not able to cool the mirror enough. I suppose due to this and possibly other external reasons, the seeing climbed up to 1.5-2 and stayed like that for the most of the night. In addition, thin cirrus and later clouds showed up. Once in a while the seeing would get as good as 1.1 . ------------------------------ Submitted on 2009 Apr 5 [6:04:13]
