MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2009 Aug 24 Observer(s): John Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: modspec + echelle CCD Worked for 6 hours (last half of the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Clouds from start until 11. Beg: Overcast, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Night started with lowish clouds and the occasional raindrop -- monsoon is still with us -- but gradually cleared after about 11 PM. Never cleared up completely, but got pretty good, and the seeing was quite good. The telescope and instrument behaved very well, except for a reluctant mirror cover, described in the trouble report. The dome came back to the contacts perfectly at the end of the night, even though I'd been jumping around a fair amount. Indications are that the inaccurate dome really is cured. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2009 Aug 25 [6:05:49]
