MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2009 May 05 Observer(s): Julie Skinner Institution(s): Dartmouth College Instrument: Echelle Worked for 9.5 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: The weather was much better tonight. Some high clouds around sunset, but those quickly disspated. I had one problem with the Dec encoder. The telescope would not properly set on the next object, but would just hang a few arcseconds away. The DEC encoder not responding warning was flashing. I did a shutdown of the relevant things on the TCS switch panel and that seemed to solve it. Pointing was bit off after this, but nothing too severe. The problem was solved within 5-10 min, so it did not greatly impact my observations. Everything ran smoothly after that. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2009 May 6 [5:40:41]
