MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2009 Sep 03 Observer(s): John Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: echelle CCD direct + Buckeye FW Worked for 4 hours (off and on through the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Clouds from start until 11 PM. Beg: Overcast, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.3 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Terrible weather at the start, with rain showers coming through, but these gave way to a uniform cloud deck in mid-evening, and soon it was clear enough to try some observations. It was tolerably clear for a few hours, then cloudy again, then clear before dawn. Seeing was decent. Next observers (Sally Oey and Eric Pelligrini) are here -- I gave them a thorough introduction to the telescope. Sally got to see it in action, include the wonders of dial-a-guidestar. The telescope and equipment worked very nicely for the whole run, with only minor glitches. My thanks to the staff for their dedicated service! ------------------------------ Submitted on 2009 Sep 4 [5:28:50]
