MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2009 Sep 12 Observer(s): K. Schlesinger Institution(s): OSU Instrument: CCDS Worked for 3 hours (last half of the night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Clouds from 7 pm until ~2 am. Beg: Overcast, Winds Calm, Thunderstom Mid: Overcast, Winds Calm, Intermittent rain End: Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Thunderstorms with lots of rain for the first half of the night. Had to do a lightning shut down! Second half of the night the weather calmed down and I was able to open up around 2:45 am. After that some patchy clouds, but not bad. When I rebooted everything from the lightning shutdown I encountered the IC to Caliban write error (where it complains about filenames already existing) but was able to fix that easily using the manual. Also, one weird problem is that I think after rebooting the tracking is off. It was set to 15.02 upon rebooting and when I would take calibrations the guide star would be quite far from where it was originally. A note on teh monitor instructed me to try tracking at 15.06 instead, which seemed to alleviate the problem slightly. If there is a more accurate number, I would appreciate knowing it! Thanks! ------------------------------ Submitted on 2009 Sep 13 [5:59:20]
