MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2010 Feb 19 Observer(s): Khan, Mogren Institution(s): OSU Instrument: CCDS, Retrocam Worked for 10 hours (most of the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: High Humidity from 2am until 5am. Beg: Seeing 0.8 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Moderate, Humidity ~25% Mid: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds High, Humidity ~70% End: Patchy Clouds, Winds High, Humidty >85% Observing Summary: We observed for about 10 hours, although there were both weather related and technical troubles. We had to drive the dome manually almost all night long. For our first two objects, the dome seemed to be tracking fine, but as we tried moving to the third object the dome kept moving continuously. We turned off auto-dome, hit the yellow button, and spoke to Bob. After that, we drove the dome manually for the rest of the night. There was gusty wind ranging in 20~30mph almost all night long, which resulted in rather poor seeing condition. The humidity was ~25% at the beginning, but there was a steady rise to 75%, which rather rapidly rose past 85%: we closed at 83%. By the time we completed the shutdown procedure, the humidity inside the dome was over 92% and outside 89%. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2010 Feb 20 [5:18:21]
