MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2010 Feb 23 Observer(s): Khan, Mogren Institution(s): OSU Instrument: CCDS, Retrocam Worked for 5 hours (part of the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Clouds from 3am until cont.. Beg: Seeing 1.1 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1.6 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Light & Variable End: Overcast, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: We got to collect data for a total of ~5 hours, 10pm~3am. The power shut-down yesterday had totally knocked off the telescope pointing. It took us a long time to get it to point properly again, mostly because we did not realize that the zenith tilt isn't either 0-0 or the numbers on the sticker on the tilt-meter. The real numbers were on a sticky note on the window. We really appreciate the help extended by Bob and Jose over the phone. While we observed, the conditions were mostly fair, despite some thin cirrus. We had to shut down at 3am due to thick clouds gathering over us. On a positive note: probably due to the multiple reboots of all systems yesterday, the dome problem did not recur today, and the dome tracked perfectly all night. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2010 Feb 24 [5:45:01]
