MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2010 Jul 05 Observer(s): Jessica Werk, Janet Colucci Institution(s): University of Michigan Instrument: Direct + Nellie Worked for 8 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: light clouds at sunset gave way to clear (photometric?) skies for all of the night. Due to a power failure early in the afternoon, I rebooted all the systems before observing -- things seemed to go fairly smoothly, though I did have to re-point the telescope, and ccdcom was acting a bit strange at first (the df nellie command failed a few times). Otherwise, it was a very productive night. A couple (unimportant, mostly) questions arose, and I couldn't find a quick answer in the manuals or elsewhere: 1. how do I change the TCS Telescope Epoch display? I read in the manual that Clicking on the TCS display button produces a pop-up window , but I can't find a TCS display button anywhere! I'd love to be able to switch the Telescope epoch that's displayed to 2000, rather than 2010.51 (as it is at present). 2. How do I print logsheets? 3. how do i get hiltner to beep at me, loudly, when it's done with an exposure? It wasn't beeping at all... ------------------------------ Submitted on 2010 Jul 6 [4:36:26]
