MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2010 Jun 01 Observer(s): Bird Institution(s): OSU Instrument: OSMOS Worked for 7 hours (all night) Conditions were Overcast most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Clouds from 6 until 12. Beg: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Overcast, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1.3 arcsec, Fog/Low Clouds, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1.3 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Early: Thick clouds at low altitude. Could not find guide stars for target fields. Guider was not behaving correctly. Bob finally figured out it was the guider parameter Fraction of guiding movement.. (this phrase is approximate). The value was changed from 1.0 to 0.5 and the guider behaved thereafter. We do not know the reason for this. Lost several hours due to weather and guider issues. On sky with no issues just after midnight. OSMOS behaved well. User error prevented it from being used fully. See email to Stanek, Khan, and Henderson if interested. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2010 Jun 2 [6:47:58]
