MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2010 Jun 29 Observer(s): Tobin and Hsu Institution(s): Michigan Instrument: TIFKAM Worked for 4.5 hours (part of the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.3 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1.0 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm End: Clear, Winds Moderate Observing Summary: Night started off with some heavy clouds and it gradually cleared up around 10pm. We imaged one field and took spectra of 1 target. Around 0315 the image quality went really bad, we initially thought it was seeing, upon trying to refocus the image showed the characteristic triangular shape of the air bags deflating. The mirror support PC never set off an alarm, however the total forces were substantially lower than what I remember them being. We then stopped the telescope in-place and closed for the night. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2010 Jun 30 [3:48:05]
