MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2010 Mar 26 Observer(s): John Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: echelle ccd direct + buckeye FW Worked for 11 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1+ arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate Mid: Seeing 1+ arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate End: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate Observing Summary: A very nice night, photometric with decent seeing. A bit breezy but not enough to cause any problems. The transparency at sunset was kind of mediocre -- looked like a little bit of dust had been kicked up by the breeze -- but nothing out of the ordinary. Some targets wiped out by bright moon. Only one minor telescope glitch, didn't complete set and drifted until I stopped it; and one minor episode of the wandering dome. No time lost. I used JSkyCalc24mGS to move the guide probe and send coords to the telescope, and it worked very nicely! It's much more convenient and less error-prone than typing in guide coords by hand. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2010 Mar 27 [6:28:02]
