MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2010 Mar 27 Observer(s): John Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: Echelle CCD direct + 4 in FW Worked for 10 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate Mid: Seeing 1+ arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate End: Seeing 1+ arcsec, Clear, Winds High, wind closure Observing Summary: Beautiful photometric night, but bright and breezy. Wind climbed steadily through the night -- seeing wasn't as bad as you'd think, though -- and finally I had to shut down just as twilight began because the wind was starting to gust over the 40 mph limit. Being blown out (so to speak) at MDM without a nasty storm is unusual in my experience. Weirdly, the KPNO website doesn't show any very high winds. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2010 Mar 28 [5:21:55]
