MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2010 Nov 08 Observer(s): Haojing Yan Institution(s): OSU Instrument: OSMOS Worked for 2.5 hours (first half of the night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: High Humidity from 09:00 until 06:00. Beg: Seeing 1.2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate Mid: Seeing N/A arcsec, Fog/Low Clouds, Winds Moderate End: Seeing N/A arcsec, Fog/Low Clouds, Winds Moderate Observing Summary: The beginning of the night was fairly good in transparency and seeing. However it turned bad very quickly at around 9:00pm -- humidity quickly increased to over 85% and the sky was completely covered by clouds. Got warning from both 1.3m and the 4m. Had to immediately shut down after verifying the situation. During the rest of the night, we were *in* the clouds most of time. By the time it cleared up it was about 6:00am. Too late to do anything useful. One thing learned is that the dome slit cannot be closed until the dome is homed. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2010 Nov 9 [7:30:32]
