MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2010 Nov 09 Observer(s): Haojing Yan Institution(s): OSU Instrument: OSMOS Worked for 10 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: High Humidity from 09:00 until 06:00. Beg: Seeing 1.3 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate Mid: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate End: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate Observing Summary: A very likely photometric night. The seeing was no good (1.3 -1.6 ). The observations were all in imaging mode. Overall it's a rather smooth night (well, compared to the previous nights anyway). The only big problem was the focus. While this is already known to everyone, it was still very annoying. The change was not necessarily monolithic as a function of time or hour angle or even temperature, which made any attempt to outsmart it look like a joke. During a couple of hours when the foucs was relatively stable, it was confirmed that the best focus values for the u'g'r'i' set and the BVRI set is like focus(ugri)=focus(BVRI)+20. A couple of long-exposures had problem with the guiding. This will be described in detail in the trouble report. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2010 Nov 10 [7:29:23]
