MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2010 Oct 03 Observer(s): Grier & Stoll Institution(s): OSU Instrument: OSMOS Worked for 9 hours (most of the night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Clouds from 3am until 6am. Beg: Seeing 1.6 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.9 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm End: Overcast, Winds Calm, Closed. Observing Summary: It was nice and clear at sunset, so we opened up and did some imaging. It started to get cloudy around 9:30pm, but it was patchy for most of the rest of the night until about 2:45am, when we were completely clouded out. We closed around 3am and tried to wait it out but it never cleared up again. We have no internet access! We can access the Kitt Peak pages (and this one) but nothing else! AHHHHHHH! It was a long night. Also, I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this yet, but the bathroom in dorm #1 (closest to the common room) down at the 1.3m is unuseable-- when Ana arrived, it was flooded. She has been using dorm #3 instead, but apparently the toilet in dorm #3 is not draining well (and has been draining slowly since she got here). I wasn't sure if she would remember to mention this so I thought I'd throw it in here. I think she's still sleeping in there, though. Everything is OK up here at the 2.4m except the outlets on the north wall (the wall that the sofa is touching) in the common room don't work-- we can't turn on any of the lamps and haven't been able to since the power went out on Saturday. All of the kitchen appliances seem to work fine, and the main lights work as well, so it's not a huge issue. No problems with the telescope or observing equipment, though! ------------------------------ Submitted on 2010 Oct 4 [5:09:06]
