MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2010 Sep 09 Observer(s): Schroeder Institution(s): Columbia Instrument: Echelle Worked for 10 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.0 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.4 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate End: Seeing 1.0 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Early in the night, CCDCOM crashed me out of the terminal window. Bob walked me through a restart, but we had to power-cycle the CCD in order to get it to clear. There is still noise at the level of +/-10 counts. John Thorstensen says he has a software fix to get rid of the noise. It would be nice to see if there is anything more that can be done to tamp down this interference, though I'm skeptical. I gave a talk at 6:30 am to the Astronomy Department at Columbia University about MDM via Skype. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2010 Sep 10 [6:00:32]
