MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2011 Aug 23 Observer(s): Schroeder Institution(s): Columbia Instrument: Osmos Worked for 5 hours (part of the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Clouds all night. Beg: Overcast, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 0.8 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm End: Overcast, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Clouds in the beginning, clouds at the end, but some pretty good skies in between. The IC computer required rebooting in the middle of the night, so it was fortunate that Jules had the correct order of operations for booting to Osmos, otherwise I think I'd have been sunk. After that, all was smooth sailing. One good thing about Osmos is that the precise center of the chip is also the precise center of the guider field of view. This makes guide star acquisition easy. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2011 Aug 24 [4:47:19]
