MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2011 Aug 30 Observer(s): Paust Institution(s): Whitman/Dartmouth Instrument: OSMOS Worked for 6 hours (last half of the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Clouds from 7 until 10. Beg: Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: We had rain an hour before sunset and clouds that started to break up about a half hour after the sun went down. There was some lightning far out to the east as well. As a result, we stayed shut until 10 or so when it became clear that while conditions weren't perfect, they weren't getting worse. Apart with some unfamiliarity with the control software that cost us a little bit of time in centering and focussing, the night was extremely productive with very nice seeing at times. At sunrise, there were a fair number of patchy low clouds, I swear they weren't there in the dark though, so they must have appeared right when the sun was coming up. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2011 Aug 31 [6:09:42]
