MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2011 Jun 26

Worked for 9 hours (all night)
Conditions were Photometric most of the night.
No equipment or software problems were encountered.

Seeing and Weather:
   Beg: Seeing 1+ arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate
   Mid: Seeing 1+ arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable
   End: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable

Observing Summary:


Another good night, with everything working.  Seeing was mediocre
at times but not horrible.  Jules Halpern et al arrived.

Not 'trouble', but Agung has an annoying problem.  I went to the 
console to write a DVD, but found that one of the desktops was
overrun with some kind of zombie windows that were running the 
DVD burner -- lots of zombie windows.  They were all in some 
state that was popping an error box and waiting for a reply. 
I went to clean them out by looking for them with ps -e, but
couldn't figure out which were which right awy, so I didn't
kill them.  Then I actually turned the machine off to clear
them --- but when I re-booted, KDE insisted on  restoring  the
session, which -- resurrected all the zombies!  I didn't 
really need that DVD anyway.  But if someone more savvy than 
I could get on and clear this situation up, it'd be good.

At end of night, dome had an error of less than one degree, but
enough to keep it from making contact.  Reset the dome like
the old days.  Not a problem, but bears watching.
